Choose the right finishing options for easy Banner installation

Banner Printing is a big part of any company’s promotional activities and helps spread the word about your brand, products, and services. While the banner design is one thing, companies also need to understand and add certain Banner Finishing Options to make sure the Banners can be easily hung or installed.
Since Banners are a versatile print and promotional product, they are used at several places and hung on different surfaces. Use them at trade shows and conventions for your business, hang them in-store or right outside to attract more customers, or even use them on sidewalks to create awarenesses – the uses of Banners are endless and very effective!
Most popular Banner Finishing Options

The most commonly used Banner Finishing Options for printing are Grommets, Hemming, and Pole Pockets. PrintMagic also offers these to make sure all your products are ready to hang and use as they are delivered. Based on your needs, you can pick from various Banner Finishing Options that suit you best and add value to your product.
Please note – At this time, we do not offer the option of adding Grommets and Pole Pockets together and only one of the two can be added to your Banner.
Small metal Grommets for easier hanging –

Grommets are small metal holes attached along the Hem to make sure the Banner hangs evenly and doesn’t sag. These Grommets are 3/8″ in size and come in brass color, allowing you to make sure your promotional product stays in place. Grommets also reinforce the holes and ensure easy installation for Banners.
Depending on the type and size of Banner you are choosing, Grommets can be added just to the corners, or on the sides at intervals of 1’ or 2’ between them. When adding Grommets, remember that if the size of the Banner is bigger, go for more Grommets as it will make sure the Banner’s weight is distributed evenly on all sides and it doesn’t tear. This will also hold down your Banner and reduce flapping or movement, allowing passersby to read it easily.

With Grommets on your Banners, you can easily hang them by attaching ropes, zip ties, small carabiners, and even ribbons for smaller sized Banners. The possibilities of hanging are endless, as it allows flexibility and ease of use.
- Reinforce your Banners
- Add Grommets to make Banner Installation easier
- 3/8″ in size with brass color
- Add Grommets to just the corners
- Place them every 1’ or 2’ along with the Hemming of the Banner
Slide your poles inside these pre-made Pole Pockets –

Pole Pockets are created with a single fold so you can easily insert a pole to hang the Banner with even distribution of its weight. A Finish Line Banner at the end of a race is a good example of this. These pockets are sewn in with a 2” gap or a 4” gap depending on the size of the pole you want to use. When using a 1” size pole, a gap of 2” should be used and when using a 2” size pole, a gap of 4” should be used.
You can simply slide the poles into these pockets and attach them to a building or other stands and displays. This also allows you to reuse your poles or stands and simply change the promotional Banner and upgrade to a new one when needed! This allows you a lot of flexibility when advertising at different events, whether short term or long term!
With sewn-in Pole Pockets, your Banners can be hung sturdily on any surface using poles. You can add these to the top and bottom or the left and right side depending on the orientation of your Banner as these help the surface stay smooth when hung and don’t allow the Banner to sag or fold.
- A sewn flap on the sides that allows you to slip in poles for Banner Installation
- 2” or 4” Pole Pockets placed at the top and the bottom
- 2” or 4” Pole Pockets placed on the left and right side
- Use 1” Pole for 2” Pole Pockets
- Use 2” Pole for 4” Pole Pockets
Add Hemming to banner edges for more support –

Add Hemming to the edges of the Banners to make sure the sides don’t fray or tear. Consider getting this Banner Finishing Option to ensure you can use your promotional products repeatedly without worrying about wearing them out. Hemming also gives the Banners a smoother finishing and a straighter edging.
There are two ways to do Hemming:
Hot air welding system –
A hot-air welding system is used to create a much stronger Hem for your Banners to ensure they don’t tear or unravel. Heat sealing is very durable and also takes a shorter time to complete while eliminating thread exposure as well.
Sewing –
The edges of the Banner are folded and sewn to maintain the shape and eliminate tearing. You have the option of using a black or white thread for the Hemming depending on which better blends in with your design and doesn’t stand out like a border.
- Add Hemming on all the sides
- Add Hemming to just the top and bottom
- Heat sealing is sturdier and more durable
- With sewn Hemming, pick from black or white thread
Other Banner Finishing options

We have various Banner Finishing options that can help in ensuring your Banners stay strong and hang up easily. While Grommets, Pole Pockets, and Hemming are the ones popularly used, there are some others that can make installation easier, as well as ensure your Banners stay safe to use for a long time!
Wind Slit – When using Banners outdoors, adding wind slits can help the Banner in resisting wind and reducing material damage by letting the air pass through and not affecting the surface of the Banner.
Webbing – A nylon strip is sewn inside the Hemming to increase strength and durability on the sides, as well as keep the Grommets in place and not let them rip out when used for Banner Installation.
D-ring – Sewn into the corners of the Banner, these rings provide more support for mounting the Banner and work as a place to attach ropes or carabiners. They are stronger than Grommets and allow thicker ropes to be used.
Reinforced corner using Banner Tabs – These add more strength to the corners of the Banner to hold its weight and stay in place. Since the corners tend to take the most weight, these are a great option especially if you haven’t used Grommets across the sides at appropriate intervals.
Rope – Having a rope already sewn into the Hemming or Webbing of your Banner allows you to hang it easily anywhere without additional tools. Ropes are one of the most versatile ways to hang any Banner as they can be easily tied up.
Velcro – Add velcro to the edges of your Banner and mount it on any surface with ease. Removal and Banner Installation are fast and simple, also keeping the surface smooth for better visibility.
