The Paper: 14 pt Pearl Metallic
Our pearl trading cards are printed on Standard Pearl Metallic 14 pt, a pearlescent stock embedded with pearl fibers. It feels smooth, looks softly metallic, and shimmers as it moves in the light. The shine is in the paper itself, so no extra coating is added.
Getting the Most Shimmer
Full-color (CMYK) printing on pearl picks up a subtle shimmer. Lighter colors and open, lightly printed areas show the most pearl; heavy ink coverage, like large dark solids, can dim it. Design Tips for Pearl Trading Cards
- Let the frame shine. A lighter border or background shows off the pearl; keep the darkest colors in the art itself.
- Add a rarity mark (a star, a number like "07/50" or a "Rare" tag) so collectors know what they've pulled.
- Keep stats and text dark and clear, at 7–8 pt or larger, so they read easily on the shimmer.
