UV Coating Front

UV is short for Ultra Violet Light-Cured Coating
High-gloss coating applied over the front of the printed piece
Not recommended for printed material you need to write on after being produced

UV Coating Both Sides

UV is short for Ultra Violet Light-Cured Coating
High-gloss coating applied over the entire front and back of the printed piece
Not recommended for products you need to write on after being printed

Matte Coating

Roymal’s matte finish coating is designed to stick to a wide variety of paper, films and foil including nylon, PET and OPP
The typical gloss ranges are 5-20° at a 60° angle
Good rub/mar resistance and can be formulated with excellent chemical resistance
Can be printed using the traditional printing processes including rotogravure, rod, offset and flexographic printing

Aqueous Coating

Clear, fast-drying water- based
Used to protect printed pieces
High-gloss or matte surface that deters dirt and fingerprints
Improves the durability of postcards and other printed pieces as they go through the mail
Protects business cards as they are carried in peoples’ wallets
Looks beautiful on brochures, catalog covers, and presentation folders
Aqueous coatings provide more substantial scuff-resistance than varnishes
Typically applied to the entire printed piece, usually by the last unit on a printing press
Due to its water base, aqueous coating is more environmentally friendly than varnish or UV coatings

Spot UV Coating

UV is short for Ultra Violet Light-Cured Coating
High-gloss coating applied to specific spots of your choosing
Spot UV will be coated Satin AQ
Can be coated with a variety of Spot UV combinations:

- High-gloss coating applied to specific spots of your choosing on both the front and back of the printed piece for emphasis or as a design element.
- Do not put spot UV anywhere that you will need to write

Paper Stock Options

Standard Cardstock 14 pt. C2S

14 pt. C2S is the most widely used and prime choice for many customers.
It absorbs ink very well and has a smooth feel, a slight natural shine and great color reproduction
Coating protects from scuffs, scratches.
Paper has a smoother printing surface as it is coated on two sides at manufacturing stage.
Combine with UV coating, Gloss, Matte finishing options to get the desied result.

Standard Cardstock 16 pt. C2S

16 pt. C2S Premium Cardstock is thicker than 14 pt. C2S paper.
It has a smooth surface and great finish.
Combine it with Matte, Glossy, UV Coating, Soft Touch or Silk lamination options to get different finishing styles.
This paper is water-resistant with a smooth, bright white, resin coated.

Standard Uncoated 14 pt.

14pt Uncoated has a smooth texture which allows for a beautiful contrast between the paper and the printed impression.
14pt Uncoated paper is Writable with Pencil, Pens, Markers.The stock is not pre-coated.
This is a thick card stock with textured, and a natural paper feel.

Thick Cardstock 18 pt. C1S

18PT C1S is a thicker stock, with paper coated on 1 side for a smooth finish. The other side is not coated. so has a slight texture.
Coated paper allows the ink to rest on top of the paper, providing more vibrant colors
The uncoated side of the paper will allow the ink to absorb into the paper resulting in slightly duller colors
The uncoated side of the paper is writable with pens, pencils and markers

Artwork Preparation FAQ's

What is Foil Mask File?

When you order your printed product with special finishes such as foil stamping or raised foil, please prepare, and submit an extra artwork mask file for Foil finish representation along with your CMYK artwork. This extra artwork file is called Foil Mask File.

Preparing Mask file: Create a black and white pdf file with black color values of K = 100% (C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100). Black areas represent where you want the foil or raised foil finish to be applied and white means no finish will be applied.

What is a Bleed, Cut, and Safety line ?

Bleed Area: It is important to know if the artwork that you have designed is supposed to be full bleed or not. If it is supposed to be full bleed, the background/artwork which is close enough to cut-line should extend 0.0625” from all sides beyond the cut line to make the artwork a full bleed.

Cut Line: This line determines the size of your finished product; this is where your artwork will be cut. So, make sure all-important elements such as text, logo and images are not close to this line.

Safety Line: Safety line alerts the designer that All Text, Logo, and important info must be kept inside this line. Info inside the safety line will print correctly and be visible on the final product.

Note: Printer has a 1/16th of an inch shift tolerance that can occur from top, bottom, left to right. Hence, please account for 1/6th of an inch tolerance while designing your artwork.

How to design artwork for Foil Printing?

Always use solid color behind the Foil application. We do not recommend having any artwork or text under the foil mask since it might be visible through the foil mask.
Foil Coverage should be no more than 30% of the artwork, otherwise the foil will be wavy and will not look good. The only time a 50% coverage is acceptable is with patterns, thin strokes, or small shapes. Ideally, the size of the area, shape or image covered with raised foil should not exceed 1in x 1in.
We do not recommend having fonts smaller than 10pt on the Raised Foil Artwork. However, if you use fonts with thicker strokes or bold fonts, we do not recommend having fonts smaller than 12pt.

What print-ready file formats are accepted for uploads?

The file formats are acceptable for uploads are TIF, .TIFF, .EPS, .AI, .PSD, .JPG, .JPEG, .PNG, .PDF. We mostly recommend .pdf files.

For best quality print results, it is advisable that your files are designed in a Vector Based application such as Illustrator or Corel Draw and resolution of all images, logo is at least 300 dpi.

Folding and scoring:

Our Folded Business Cards are scored and folded in half depending on which size you choose. They are sent to customers with the folding line already dented, so you can easily fold it when needed.
