What is Akuafoil Printing?

How should I set up the files for Custom Akuafoil Hang Tags?

To add the Akuafoil effect to your Hang Tag Printing, you must include an Akuafoil mask file apart from the CMYK file as that will indicate which areas of the product, the foil has to be applied. Taking the below pictures as an example, the left one is a normal CMYK file while the one on the right is the mask file. It contains white that indicates no foil and 100% K that indicates where the Akuafoil will be placed.

What are some points to keep in mind when using Akuafoil for Custom Hang Tags?

Since Akuafoil Printing is a special element to be added to your design there are certain things to remember before you get the products printed.

• Ensure that the mask file and the CMYK print file are aligned properly so there is no disparity in printing.
• Akuafoil shows best on lighter colors as darker CMYK colors end up dimming the Akuafoil look.
• Avoid using very delicate, cursive, or small text and artwork with Akuafoil. San Serif with fonts above 12 points provides the best results.
• If you want only silver Akuafoil to be printed, leave at least 15% K in the desired white area.

White on the CMYK file that is represented as 100% K on the Akuafoil file will be printed as plain silver Akuafoil.

What is UV coating and Spot UV coating?
